Bad Games: 1 year, 2 months ago · ViewAnyone ever play Chicken Shoot for the Wii? The game is basically an arcade style shooter, similiar to the Shooting Ducks game for the SNES.
Unfortunately, the gameplay is horrendous. Enemies appear randomly, but VERY slowly. The player’s icon is a gentleman that looks similiar to the Wolfenstein avatar, looking around and all the player sees is the face.
The game idea is exactly how the title describes it. The player is charged with shooting chickens, albeit the chicken graphics are bad and look extremely innocent. But we are shooting them with machine guns and shotguns, as the player avatar laughs.
No wonder the game was only $20 in the bargain section.

There is one game that I don’t like which is the old Spider man game for the sega genesis. That game did not do a good job of mimicking the Spider man comic series at all. The controls were limited to shooting webs and punching people. There were not a lot of power ups available in the game as well.

But does that make it a bad game?
In any case, I preferred it to Wind Waker by a pretty large margin, and I still enjoyed Wind Waker for the most part.
I didnt enjoy the game very much just because it was on the wii. If it had been with a different kind of controller or i had been more used to it than i may have liked it but for now my experience was sub par.

Civilizations is crap. i dont understand why anyone likes that game
That’s how I feel about all RTS games but they’re apparently very popular on the whole.
It’s another one of those games that caters to a certain crowd. The reason a lot of people like it is because of all the possible permutations of play and different victory conditions, and because there’s a desire to see if what you did one turn will do what you predicted it would 30 turns later. In that way, it’s kind of like playing chess, albeit more complicated. The frequent motto of the Civ player is ’just one more turn…’
I didn’t understand it at first, but I sat through the tutorial once to try and learn instead of dismissing it as too cerebral and wound up ’learning the game’ for four hours. It sneaks up on you. In any case, it’s an excellent example of iterative game design. It’s worth at least observing to understand how people can get so much enjoyment out of what is essentially a guided simulation (that occasionally pits you against your friends).
I love RTS game on the whole but civilizations is la dumbed down version of AGE of empires with more ”faces” in it so that people could relate to the game more and ”pick favorites”. It focused less on micromanaging and more on simple boardgames mechanics.

Bad Games: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewOblivion was a baddddd game. I don’t know how people thought it was good. It felt unfinished and it was very very very boring. You had to sleep to level up??? Who thought that was cool??? I hope Bethesda learned their lesson from that horrible game and make something better when skyrim comes out.
At the time, there still wasn’t as many mainstream RPG players, so a lot of them still tried to do some things to cater to the hardcore fanbase. The way leveling up in the game worked (reflecting upon what you’ve learned when you go to sleep) made sense to me, because I tend to do a lot of thinking right before I fall asleep. Benjamin Franklin used to sleep in a chair and hold a plate, so that when he dropped the plate he’d wake up and remember to write down the things he was thinking about before he fell asleep (since quite frequently people will forget things they thought of the day before without a reminder, and generally forget the dreams they had by the time they wake up).
I’m not sure what you felt was unfinished, but I can completely understand being bored by the game. It’s not for everyone, generally the people who get the most out of it are the ones who are there for the atmosphere it creates, which is something Bethesda excels at. If you’re not the kind of person who can camp on a rock for 8 minutes stalking deer or watching a lich tear apart a group of bandits, then you might not like it very much. I’ve personally spent 400 hours in Cyrodiil, so obviously I enjoyed it a lot. On the other hand, I’m certain a few of the games you find to be fantastic are incredibly dull to me. But it did get quite a few Game of the Year nods. A lot, actually. And it still goes for a pretty decent price despite being around for 5 years.
If it makes you feel better, though, Skyrim doesn’t make you have to sleep to level up.
In fact, I just looked at your icon and saw the words ’Metal Gear’, and I think ’Sons of Liberty’. I couldn’t stand that game, can’t figure out why everyone adores it so much and really hope Hideo Kojima tries to do something besides make games, because it all just felt like a more boring Splinter Cell with far too many cutscenes, a goofy camera and a bunch of extra gameplay systems that didn’t seem like they needed to be there.
That doesn’t mean I think it’s a bad game; I reserve that for games that are really broken, provide no enjoyment at all (the only fun I had in any MGS game was putting Kurt Russell in a box and trying to evade the guards for an hour. Couldn’t play it anymore after that, but it was at least fun for a little while), or do things that really make me question what the creators were thinking (Bubsy the Cat, I’m looking at you).
yeah i liked twin snakes better but i just liked the ninja background. Don’t understand why sons of liberty is there since gray fox was not alive in that game
As one who was ranked in the top 10 in the US for 360’s oblivion leader board, I have to say I disagree completely with this. If you though Oblivion was bad, don’t play morrowind. Oblivion was the mainstream version of Morrowind, giving up a lot (and I mean A LOT) of really cool mechanics that was cool to old school rpg fans but proved to not appeal to the mainstream. The world was huge, the graphics were awesome (at the time. I’ve seen the game run on the crysis engine and it was gorgeous) combat was improved and the game’s mechanics were incredibly deep. Now, not as exploitable as morrowind, you could make some sweet spells, which acted as sort of adding onto the class creation. So if you had a mage, let’s say a necromancer if you leveled up in that tree, you could then create custom spells that involved necromancy, making your character more yours.
The thing I hated about oblivion was the fact that it followed your level. In Morrowind, if you found a cave, you really had to sit and assess the situation: ”Is my gear in good condition? How are my health potions. do I have a scroll of teleportation in case I run into an epic level dadric lord?” You could go anywhere in that game but the game left it to you to figure out where you were supposed to go in terms of how strong the enemies were. There’s actually a mine shaft near one of the beginning towns that has a group of thugs in there that will tear you up until you’re about level 35. I could go on forever and not even scratch the surface of either game. but hey, if you didn’t like it, then you didn’t like it :/
Even though oblivion was more ”mainstream,” I think this is really what detracted from the game. I’d say tigerphantom should try Morrowind because he didn’t like Oblivion, not that he shouldn’t.
yeah I would like to play morrowind just to see how epic it was. Hope I like it. And it’s TigerFantom

Another bad game on the list is Saw. It is bad because some elements don’t have anything to do with the movie. Saw was also boring as well and people didn’t get anything good out of it.

Anyone remember the Superman game for Nintendo 64. It was a bad game to deal with. There was no gameplay and the graphics were horrible. You couldn’t do anything but fly around and open doors. There is no music in the game. It’s just a terrible game.
I still wake up at night screaming from the nightmares that game gave me. That game looked so cool on the back of the box but when you played it…. dear lord, when you played it…
Yeah, I used to have bad dreams from playing that game as well. When you played the game, you couldn’t get anything good out of it. I remember when I took it back to the store to exchange the game. I got a better game to play at home.
that game was so terriable. I remebered my dad taking us back to the store and demanding a refund for that game.
I think we wound up burning it when we couldnt return it on the fact that it ” sucked almost as bad as ET”

Bad Games: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewBanjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. One of the worst ways to ruin one of (in my opinion) the greatest franchises from last generation. Banjo Kazooie was a wonderful platformer, full of challenges, humor, combat, exploration, and variety. Then the next generation came out, Rare defected over to Xbox, and we get Nuts and Bolts. A terrible platformer-racing hybrid that tried to give players a ”little big planet” feel by letting them create any vehicle that they wanted. The problem? the amount of work it took to make anything that could actually move in one direction just wasn’t worth it. once you got that vehicle, you realized you didn’t actually want to go anywhere with it, or do anything with it.
I never got a chance to play nuts and bolts but it looked like it was a far cry from the original two. I do have to say that without nuts and bolts, I wouldn’t have been slipped the free code from a friend to get Banjo Kazooie on my xbox so I mean, some good came out if it, right?
hahaha, yeah I forgot about that! it doesn’t redeem the makers of nuts and bolts, but it is definitely a plus. I think Banjo Tooie is also on the xbox arcade… I may need to get that soon!
Banjo Tooie is great on the xbox arcade. This is great because the player has more options to do whatever they want in a free world. There are some good nuts and bolts that deal with the fighting.
Yeah banjo-tooie is on there but I didn’t like it as much as banjo kazooie. There was too much back tracking. I remember playing it and in the first level, there’s a door that connects to a level like… 6 levels after the first or something and so for some of the puzzle pieces, you just have to give up, hoping that later on there’s some sort of path that unlocks or some special skill that shows up that will allow you to go back and get the piece.
The first tow of the series were alright. I never played nuts and volts and i thought it looked great. Guess not lol.

Bad Games: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewTwo Worlds. It was a horrible Oblivion ripoff that was ported to consoles only 6 months before release. It had two things going for it: the magic/crafting system was actually kind of neat, and the environment design (all of the different biomes and cultures, that is) were a wider variety than Oblivion’s. Everything else about the game TANKED. You could ride a horse at an angle of 20 degrees off the ground. The phong lighting made it look like your character was just a mo-capped series of 2D animations. Enemies didn’t regenerate at all. It was possible to break the main quest line. The voice-acting was done by members of the studio (who are all from Poland/Romania) in the English version. The main threat is something that everyone kept calling ’The Taint’. I can keep going, if you want me to…
We at gamestop actually got a letter of apology from the developers of Two Worlds for making the game. Never seen anything like it.
anybody know if TW2 is any better?
From what I hear, Two Worlds 2 looks AMAZING but it plays like a really old school rpg. So the voice acting and the story are awful but this time, tw2 is awful funny instead of just baaaaaaaaaaaad like the first one.
Ive heard the same thing.
They focused a bit more on the HUD and the actually game play but the graphics are just as good as any other game coming out.
that both pathetic and hilarious at the same time
I’ve actually heard a lot of good hype for Two Worlds 2. As far as I know, they realized making an Oblivion clone was a terrible idea, and are working on making it more original. I guess only time will tell though.
Everything I’ve seen about Two Worlds 2 indicates that it’s at least worth checking out at some point for any fans of fantasy RPGs. It’s no longer terribly broken and not quite as laughably bad. I guess an equivalent in terms of quality and style would be Gothic 3? It’s not really a mainstream thing, but in those kinds of circles, it’ll get a good reception.

Bad Games: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewOk I’m gonna come out and say, I know its gonna get shot down, but I really did not like Red Dead Redemption. The game was almost identical to GTA, which I’m also not a huge fan of. I just couldn’t see why it won all these awards and was so loved. Anyone else agree or am I just crazy haha
you are just crazy lol, i can see your point but you had to pass the whole game to see how awesome it was, i admit it got boring in the whole Mexico part but the ending was great and i really loved hunting things lol.
it wasn’t that much like GTA, you didn’t go around killing random people, you could but most people don’t in this one, and you don’t hijack horses or w/e, you can find them roaming in the plains lol
its all preference thoughI know some people that couldn’t get into it. Just because it’s a well-made game doesn’t mean that you have to like it or feel bad for not liking it.
I think the main reason it got more praise than GTA IV is that RDR hada much more consistent main character, setting, and sense of direction. In GTA IV, Niko started as an immigrant who wanted to leave his past behind, and then killed a bunch of people anyways… which of course was when he wasn’t getting interrupted by his needy, car-less friends and girlfriends who wanted to hang out all the time.
Red Dead stayed serious, even when it was making fun of Western tropes, and Rockstar was smart to lump all of the silliness into a contained package–Undead Nightmare.
I’m explaining this to say that you’re wrong for disliking it, just explaining what all the fuss was about for people.
yeah those phone calls from peoples in GTA were a pain in the ass haha
I didn’t care for red dead either. It has the same appeal to me that GTA does: wait for a friend to buy it, play it at their place, game content fully explored. I spent a good amount of time stealing horses and dragging people behind me and then setting up shop on top of a building and sniping people until I either ran out of ammo or made a mistake and died but that’s about it. Was the zombie expansion any good?
i didnt try it, but my friend did and he said it was awesome

Bad Games: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewI was actually looking forward to this game, but once I bought it, I cried. Saw the video game is bad. The game was done all wrong. Every puzzle is pretty much the same. You walk from place to place. Occasionally you run into enemies and puzzles, but all the consequences to each puzzle whether you do them right or wrong just doesn’t feel harsh enough. There should be severe consequences to doing a puzzle wrong other than dying. Something like what Heavy Rain did where you lose some information that makes your ultimate goal that much harder. The game itself is just boring. It’s been a while since I could say that about a game.
Another way to fix the game could be to allow you to play as Jigsaw and set up the puzzles and what is going to happen.

Bad Games: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewSweet a bad games group, sweet. Anyway, one absolutely flat-out terrible game is E.T. This game had so many people excited to play it, but once it was released people lost faith in games. Ultimately this game helped crash the game market. The other factors being the Atari version of Pac-Man and the oversaturation of the market.

you can also say this about any dynasty warriors game, which fits my 1 game is all you need list lol

one atrocious game that i played was Viking: Battle for Asgard on the ps3/360. this game is so terrible, i returned it that same day, thank god i got it used lol
