Game Development Blogs

  • inSANE, Unreal Development Kit project exploring the human psyche
  • Verse, retro-style role-playing-game by Drunken Zebra Studio
  • Big Bad World, flash-based financial literacy game by Flamers Inc.
  • ThatBigGroup, 3D platformer with time-manipulation mechanics

Assignment

Create a professional production blog to share your progress, concept-art, and demo videos of your team prototype. Potential employers interested in your game project are your target audience. The blog should be developed as a team, with each team member contributing posts emphasizing their role and work.

Requirements

  • A working framework for your blog, built using a hosting tool such as WordPress (wordpress.org). The style of your blog should be both professional and appropriate to the feel of your project. You can use an existing template, but you should customize it to your work.
  • The logo or production identity of your team and game
  • Brief bios for all team members with links to your online portfolios if applicable. If you don’t have a personal portfolio yet, remember to add these links once you build one next semester
  • At least 2 thoughtful (500 word) posts per team member sharing thoughts and work from the development process this semester
  • At least 3 screenshots or concept art from the prototype
  • A demo video showing the gameplay and character of your prototype

This production blog should include materials generated throughout the semester, and will be linked from your final personal portfolio as dynamic documentation of your development.

Deliverables

The website must be online within a week of the prototype presentations and I must have a link from you by then. For the most dynamic content, you should share the links to new posts throughout the semester and read and respond to other teams’ blogs. Your blog doesn’t need to be on the student server, but make sure it is public and that you have the correct link to the visible page (not the admin panel or ftp link).
